St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, although he was actually born in England, maybe on March 17.
Initially, St. Patrick’s Day was considered as a religious holiday, but in 1995, the Government of Ireland decided to use St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) as a way to promote tourism.
People always wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, because traditionally, green represents Ireland, or the Emerald Isle
However, according to legend, green also has got the magical power to make people invisible to leprechauns or other fairy creatures; that means that wearing green can save you from getting pinched by these characters.
If you don’t wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, be careful!

But what are "leprechauns"?
They are tiny men and women who had magical powers and in Celtic tales they were the ones who mended shoes for other fairies. They are very similar to our "trasgus".

On this day, people show a shamrock on their clothes (hats, coats, dresses) or bags, umbrellas... because it is the symbol of Ireland.
Centuries ago a shamrock (or clover) was a symbol of the rebirth of spring and was considered a sacred plant and when the English invaded Irish land, people wore shamrocks as a symbol of their heritage.
Nowadays people around the world celebrate this festive and green party.

This is a beautiful story of overcoming. Helen Keller's story, a deaf and blind educator who overcame great handicaps to become whatever she proposed to herself.

In the introduction of our English Corner we think about her as inspiration in our work, study... and in our lives in general. An example of woman for the rest of people.
We mustn't forget: "Where there's a will, there's a way".

Watch her story here.

This is one of the funniest festivals of the year. We love it!!
First of all, we decide the subject together (everybody at school).
After that, we think different possibilities to dress up ourselves.

Then, we prepare funny ideas to work, decorate and celebrate this party with classmates and teachers in our classes.
And, last of all, the day arrives and with it... our performance ("Superman" from Miguel Bosé, for 5th and 6th levels, in this ocassion).
We are so excited...!!

Come and celebrate Carnival with us!
Be a Superhero, too!

Super superman
Don’t you understand we love you?
Super superman
Don’t you know you are my hero?

Knock’em dead!
Knock’em dead!
I’ll tell you how to hit the beat
Su - per - man!

Can’t you see I am your first fan?
Teach me how to fight
Tell you how to dance zit all right
